The Story Behind My Weight Loss Journey - And Why I'm Here To Help You
Apr 11, 2026
Hey guys.
I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself, share my health and weight loss journey, explain why I started my coaching business and briefly speak on what Kimberly Marine Nutrition is all about.
I’m a follower of Christ, a wife, a mom of two, nutrition health coach and a registered nurse. I currently work in the operating room, and I also have experience in hospice and telemetry.
There are two reasons I started this business: vanity and health.
Let’s start with vanity.
Yes—I know that might sound shallow. But it’s the truth. I wanted to feel confident in my body. I wanted to look in the mirror and genuinely think, “dang, you look good, girl.”
My struggle really started in high school. I was obsessed with being tiny—like size 0, double zero tiny. I remember pinching my stomach and calling it fat, even though I weighed between 105 and 115 pounds. At my lowest, 103, I was actually the most miserable.

I ran cross country, so I stayed small—but my habits were all over the place. Some days I’d eat donuts and chocolate milk after practice. Other days, it was just spinach and tuna. No balance at all—just extremes.
I was constantly exhausted. I’d fall asleep in class—like, drooling-on-the-desk asleep. My periods were regular, but the cramps were so bad I’d have to go home every month, take 4 ibuprofen and just lay down.
Then came college.

No structure, less activity, more eating out. I worked in restaurants, went out with friends, and my diet reflected that. Coffee drinks, pastries, vending machine snacks, pizza, soda—it added up fast. I gained about 20 pounds in my first year.
My periods were still painful and my food cravings were more intense around my cycle. I gained so much weight and I vividly remember thinking how uncomfortable it felt just to bend over and tie my shoes.
Fast forward to 2015—I met my husband. I was making better choices and working out again, but I still wasn’t happy with my body. I could lose weight, but I could never maintain it.

In 2019, about a year and a half after my first baby, I decided it was time to really commit. I created a private Instagram called “The Balancing Act” to document everything—the ups, the downs, all of it. That account eventually became my business page.

At that point, I’d say I was about 95% motivated by vanity and maybe 5% by health, even though I do have a family history of chronic disease.

I started with veganism, then vegetarianism for about two years. I worked out constantly and saw some results—but never the transformation I wanted. I still looked soft. My cravings were out of control. I’d do well for a while, then fall off and struggle to get back on track.
My periods were still painful, and emotionally I was all over the place before my cycle. I would tell my husband that it would probably be best if he avoided me for the day because I didn’t know what would set me off.
I tried programs like Optavia—lost some weight, but it wasn’t sustainable. I counted calories on and off. Nothing stuck. I was frustrated, exhausted, and honestly at rock bottom.

Then in December of 2022, everything changed.
I decided I was done spinning my wheels. I found a health coach online—someone who had struggled herself and figured it out. I committed to a three-month program and went all in.
Low carb, higher fat—very structured. I followed it exactly.
By day three, I noticed a difference. My energy was through the roof. The bloating I was used to was gone. My first cycle on the program? Completely different—minimal symptoms.

In 90 days, I lost 17 pounds and felt better than I ever had—even better than in high school. For the first time, I felt truly healthy. I got down to 113-115.

After that, I transitioned into a whole-food, macro-based approach and maintained my weight around 123 to 125. I even briefly worked with a dietitian who upped my carbs.
And just to be fully transparent—I did have a tummy tuck, but I was already at my goal weight before surgery.
Later, I experimented with carnivore after my husband tried it to prevent increasing his SSRI dose and it actually worked. I felt good, I got rid of anxiety symptoms I had been having, energy was better, but I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t leaning out further. I maintained my weight, but something was missing.
Then in late 2025, it finally clicked.
I learned exactly how the body works—how to fuel it to burn fat, how to maintain that fat loss, and how to support true health. That understanding changed everything.

Which brings me to the second reason I started this business: health.
As a nurse, I’ve seen firsthand how many chronic diseases are preventable—and how many people simply aren’t taught how to take care of their bodies through nutrition.
I’m not anti-medicine. There’s absolutely a time and place for it. But I am passionate about helping people stay out of the hospital in the first place.
I want people to feel energized, clear-headed, and in control—not like they’re constantly battling their body or their cravings.
This became deeply personal for me when I think about my grandmother. She had multiple chronic conditions—hypothyroidism, diabetes, vascular disease, heart failure, kidney failure. And the guidance she received was minimal—“everything in moderation.”

I can’t help but wonder how different her life could have been with the right nutritional support. If not cured, then at least taken off some of the extra weight, gave her stable energy
I’ve now seen countless people reverse or significantly improve these same conditions through proper nutrition—by giving their bodies what they actually need to thrive.
Do not underestimate what your body can do for you when you give it the nutrients it needs. It is powerful.
In the operating room, I see the consequences of not understanding this—amputations, repeat surgeries, complications that could often be prevented.
And that’s why I do this.
I’m not here to diagnose or cure disease. But I am here to teach you how to work with your body so you can lose fat, improve your health, and feel your best.
Because you can have both. A strong, confident body and good health.
This is not a quick fix. And honestly—quick fixes don’t work long term.
That’s why I created the 90-day Metabolic Mindset Method.
It has three phases:
- Transition into fat burning,
- Maximize fat burning,
- And lifestyle lock in.
My goal is to teach you how your metabolism actually works so you can make confident, informed choices for the rest of your life.
I want to “teach you to fish”—so you’re never dependent on a plan again.
Inside the program, you’ll get the full course, unlimited coach chat, and weekly group meetings. And if you need continued support after the 90 days, you can stay connected through the Lifestyle Lock-In membership.
That’s it.
If you have questions or want to learn more, message me. I’d love to connect with you.
Be blessed.
